The Society for Biomolecular Sciences (SBS) announced that the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) will co-sponsor the upcoming SBS symposium, Biopharmaceuticals: Exploring Synergies Across Drug Formats in San Francisco, Ca in May 2010. The SBS symposium will take place at the San Francisco Hilton Union Square, the same location as the 2010 AAPS National Biotechnology Conference.

“There’s no better time for the society to offer this biopharmaceutical symposium than immediately following the 2010 AAPS National Biotechnology Conference,” said AAPS Executive Director John Lisack, Jr., CAE. “Events like these are what interdisciplinary educational organizations like SBS and AAPS are all about. In a time of great innovation, organizations like ours can provide no greater service to our members and to the scientific community as a whole than enhancing their skill-sets to meet new challenges.”

The two-day symposium begins May 20, 2010 and will focus on exploring the synergies between small-molecule and biopharmaceutical drug discovery. “As the biopharmaceuticals sector of the pharmaceutical industry continues to grow, so too has the demand for innovative technologies which will enhance and speed the discovery process,” said SBS Executive Director Christine Giordano, CAE. “The timing of these two meetings is ideal, and we are thankful for AAPS’ shared vision and collaborative spirit.”

Founded in 1986, AAPS is an individual membership society composed of pharmaceutical scientists who have joined together to serve both society and their own common professional interests. The mission of AAPS is to provide a dynamic international forum for the exchange of knowledge among scientists to enhance their contributions to health. They offer timely scientific programs, on-going education, opportunities for networking, and professional development.
